Pre/Post Natal Massage

Pregnancy, Labor and Postpartum are very powerful and transformative times in a woman’s life and massage therapy is a wonderful way to help assimilate all the exciting changes.

I have trained with and am certified by Claire Marie Miller, one of the nation's leaders in massage therapy and creator of Nurturing the Mother®.  I am able to offer safe and therapeutic pregnancy massage, labor support massage, and postpartum massage.  Research has shown that pregnancy massage strengthens the immune system, decreases blood pressure, decreases stress hormone, shortens labor time, and helps restore the body in the postpartum phase.  I work in a supporting role to your physician, midwife, and/or doula.

Much of the prenatal massage will take place in the side-lying position.  But adjustments will always be made to ensure your comfort.  Extra attention is given to the upper back, neck and shoulders, as well as, the low back and hips, these are two common areas where discomfort arises during pregnancy.

Receiving a massage after giving birth is a great way to start the process of bringing the body back to its pre-pregnancy state.  Some benefits of postpartum massage are that it supports and enhances the realigning process, it aids in releasing tension in the shoulders, neck and arms from the care and feeding of an infant, it supports fluid balancing and encourages abdominal organs to return to pre-pregnant positions.
